Two armed people were detained, the Kansas City Police Department said in a statement.

Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City quarterback who led his team to victory on Sunday, said that he was “praying for Kansas City” on social media.
Gun violence has been falling in some parts of the country, but Kansas City saw a record number of homicides in 2023.
